DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) is the process of placing hair follicles extracted from the donor area by micro-motor with Choi pens without opening the incisions in the area to be transplanted, with the appropriate density and direction.
The advantage of the DHI technique over other hair transplant methods; it allows hair follicles to be transplanted without the need to shave the hair, but the donor area must be trimmed. Thus, in areas where the hair is not completely shed, it is possible to do transplant between the hair more easily.
After determining and drawing the donor area of the patient, the hair follicles are extracted by a special tipped micro motor. The operation is usually performed using a local anesthesia along with sedation to make you relaxed and comfortable.
For patients who lack the clear quality and quantity of hair scalp in the nape area, which is generally used as a donor area, hair from the beard and body hair is an outstanding alternative.
The purpose of preferring the nape area is that the hair follicles are mostly in grouping of 2 and 3 hairs. The extracted hair follicles should be stored in a sterile glass plates (petri dish) and at a suitable room temperature in a suitable condition.
Transplantation procedure is applied directly to the patient with the Choi pens in which grafts are inserted inside a hollow needle carefully according to the appropriate position and direction with the determined distribution. All these processes take 8 to 10 hours.
Between the procedures, the patient is given a lunch break and his comfort is provided.
If the instructions given after the procedure are followed, the patient will not have complications such as swelling, pain or bleeding in the head. After the procedure, the prescribed medicines should be used regularly, and the recommended instructions should be followed. This is a one-week period, the patient can return to normal life within 2-3 days. It takes between 6 and 12 months for the transplanted hair to grow.
