Eyebrow loss can happen due to accidents, burns, dermatological disorders and from over-plucking. Usually the solution for thin or sparse eyebrows has been to rely on makeup products, or other solutions such as microblading to “fill in” eyebrow hairs. However, it is not permanent.
Eyebrow transplantation can be applied to patients who want to have thicker eyebrows or for those who do not have any eyebrows.
After determining and drawing a small area of the back of the head (donor area) of the patient, the hair follicles extracted by a special tipped micro motor. Especially single hair follicles are taken for a natural look. The operation is usually performed using a local anesthesia along with sedation to make you relaxed and comfortable.
The extracted hair follicles should be stored in a sterile glass plates (petri dish) and at a suitable room temperature in a suitable condition. After the extraction is completed, the eyebrow area to be transplanted is determined taking into consideration the patient’s facial features, to start making the small incisions and It is made according to the appropriate direction. Finally, the hair follicles that were kept in the petri dishes are transferred to the opened tiny incisions.
All these processes take 6 – 8 hours in total. Between the procedures, the patient is given a lunch break and the patient’s comfort is provided.
If the instructions given after the procedure are followed, the patient will not have complications such as swelling, pain or bleeding in the head. After the procedure, the prescribed medicines should be used regularly, and the recommended instructions should be followed. This is a one-week period, the patient can return to normal life within 2-3 days. It takes between 6 and 12 months for the transplanted hair to grow.
